Taking care of Mama Bear!

So, it's been a while--my bad peeps!!!

Maverick has been growing sooo quickly and the weather is finally warming up here in Alberta (somewhat, we still have snow but meh that's just Canada eh!) So we've been heading outside for daily walks which has been aahh-mazing for my mental and physical health!  During my pregnancy I went for regular walks (just not on those days late in my 3rd trimester when my body & especially feet ached so badly that walking was pretty much unbearable), but it was kinda challenging to get back into the groove of things post-partum.  Now that lil Mav is four months old I really am starting to feel like myself again (or even better, if that's even possible!!)

During my pregnancy I gained about 70 lbs  (whheeew! Lol!) But I did lose 30 right after birth.  I haven't stepped on the scale in a lil while, because it's results were rather discouraging lol, so I've just been feelin' myself and all my lovely motherhood curves!  I bought new jeans off Wish (only spent CAD $27.50 w/shipping) and they make me feel fabulous.

Lately I actually went on a makeup/skin care splurge.  To be completely honest, I ran out of face cream for months and am pretty sad to admit I used my babies lotion as face cream for about a month and my skin has really been showing signs of neglect. I'm starting to realize I under-appreciated my amazingly soft skin that I've had 99% of my life.  Getting older, and of course motherhood in itself can change a woman's skin permanently due to hormone changes.  So I bought some Garnier gel moisturizer (it was on sale at my local grocer for about $8), and it's good.  It's not like a miracle product or anything, but it does the trick.  Today I also bought a bottle of Aveeno facial cleanser (also on sale for $8 lol).  I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited to see how it makes my skin feel.  I figured, if Aveeno has been an amazing brand for my baby it should probably be great for me, too.  He has inherited my dry, sensitive skin after all.

So in addition to those products I am currently awaiting a very exciting Rose Gold elixir to come in the mail.  I haven't tried a product like this before but I read some reviews and it's sounds like the miracle product my skin desperately needs.  It cost $10 on Wish (with shipping). Yay! Love a good deal!!

Then, I went a little crazy on Wish and got new makeup brushes, foundations (I'm getting a light one and dark one to apply as a contouring product), false lashes, liquid liner, lipstick, and an eyebrow staining product that I've never tried before. To be completely honest, I paid $39 with shipping for all of the above.

So in total my Wish shopping cart looked a little like this:

Eeeek!!!  I CAANNOOTTT wait for these to arrive!!  I used to be obsessed with makeup and skincare in high school and let's face it--it's been almost 10 years since I graduated and somewhere along the way I really lost my sense of self-care.  Mostly as a result of negative, abusive relationships where any time or money I spent on myself was looked down upon, kind of making me feel internally guilty if I ever took proper care of myself.

But now, ladies and gentlemen, (probably mostly ladies lol) I am BACK!  Feeling 110% and amazing and cannot wait to play around with makeup again, or just have great skin care products that make my face feel soft again.  I will be sure to update you all once my products arrive!!!

Yay! 😍💄💋👑

Let's talk about co-sleeping 💤💤

Today is a great day!  It's #friyay 🎉 but seriously who'm I kidding it's always the weekend for me 😂.  Stay-at-home Mommy style! So I have a truth I need to share with you all... I co-sleep!  I KNOW! 😶 Terrible, right?!  Co-sleeping gets a lot of negativity from the parenting world, mainly because doctors and nurses all warn of the increased chance of SIDs associated with it.  So that's typically enough to scare any cautious person away from it.  However, there are a lot of people who swear by its benefits, such as increasing the bond between baby and mommy, and giving parents a chance to get more sleep because those middle-of-the-night feeds get a heck of a lot easier. The reason I do it is when my son was a newborn he would only sleep for about 45 minutes in his bassinet before waking up crying.  But if I fell asleep with him on my chest and in my arms we could both sleep for 2-3, sometimes even 4 hours!  That's a lot of sleep for a new...

Battling baby rashes

Newborns don't always have the picture-perfect skin we all dream about.  Babies get acne, heat rashes, eczema, diaper rash, the list goes on. As a new parent, every time I caught sight of a rash it kind of sent me into a panic, unintentionally of course.  I think it has to do with that new mama anxiety, y'know.  So let's talk about that first time (and only time... so far...) that Maverick had diaper rash.  He was 10 weeks old, and we had just used Pampers sensitive baby wipes because we ran out of our usual brand (Kirklands).  To this day I still like to blame the change in wipes as the cause, but I'm sure it was a variety of things.  Babies can get diaper rash, or nappy rash, from wearing a soiled diaper too long, from the chemicals in diapers (and wipes), and simply from not airing out their bums enough.   When Mavi had the rash I read every online source made available to me with no prevail.  This was one stubborn bout of nappy ra...
