Battling baby rashes

Newborns don't always have the picture-perfect skin we all dream about.  Babies get acne, heat rashes, eczema, diaper rash, the list goes on. As a new parent, every time I caught sight of a rash it kind of sent me into a panic, unintentionally of course.  I think it has to do with that new mama anxiety, y'know.  So let's talk about that first time (and only time... so far...) that Maverick had diaper rash.  He was 10 weeks old, and we had just used Pampers sensitive baby wipes because we ran out of our usual brand (Kirklands).  To this day I still like to blame the change in wipes as the cause, but I'm sure it was a variety of things.  Babies can get diaper rash, or nappy rash, from wearing a soiled diaper too long, from the chemicals in diapers (and wipes), and simply from not airing out their bums enough.   When Mavi had the rash I read every online source made available to me with no prevail.  This was one stubborn bout of nappy ra...

Bed time = best time

As a new parent there's almost no more accomplished feeling than seeing your little one tucked in and sleeping for the night.  Notice I say "almost" because when I see my son reach his monthly milestones, like his first smile, the first time he held his soother, rattle, or beat on his drum, I'm filled with an overwhelming joy.  There's so much pride when the little life I created does amazing things.  And, of course, everything Maverick does right now is absolutely amazing.  He can literally do no wrong.  I mean, that's what being an infant's all about, right?  Just being a perfect little human being who's every second of life is the purest gift for all those around. Maverick's going to be three months old in 6 days and we had such an adventurous day.  We pulled out the exersaucer, and I know, I know --they aren't recommended until at least four months of age.  But my boy is incredibly strong (he's been practically holding his own head up...

Let's talk about co-sleeping 💤💤

Today is a great day!  It's #friyay 🎉 but seriously who'm I kidding it's always the weekend for me 😂.  Stay-at-home Mommy style! So I have a truth I need to share with you all... I co-sleep!  I KNOW! 😶 Terrible, right?!  Co-sleeping gets a lot of negativity from the parenting world, mainly because doctors and nurses all warn of the increased chance of SIDs associated with it.  So that's typically enough to scare any cautious person away from it.  However, there are a lot of people who swear by its benefits, such as increasing the bond between baby and mommy, and giving parents a chance to get more sleep because those middle-of-the-night feeds get a heck of a lot easier. The reason I do it is when my son was a newborn he would only sleep for about 45 minutes in his bassinet before waking up crying.  But if I fell asleep with him on my chest and in my arms we could both sleep for 2-3, sometimes even 4 hours!  That's a lot of sleep for a new...

1st Blog Post! Yay!

Hello world and welcome to my new blog!  I am so excited to share my new mommy life with you. I've been meaning to start a blog for what feels like a century and what better time then  now ?  I currently don't work (thanks maternity leave) but I'm sure all momma's can agree I still have a busy job, it's just at home! I've traded in my stack of never-ending paper work for a pile of never-ending diapers, and I wouldn't change a thing.  Or, well, actually I'll change a lot... diapers, onesies, my shirt (thanks to the spit up on my shoulder), and don't forget about all the bras I go through now.  No one really warns ya about how breast milk seems to get everywhere, despite wearing Johnson's nursing pads 24/7.  The pregnancy books also skipped on warning me about how much a woman can sweat post-pregnancy (thankfully not all women experience this... unfortunately I am not so lucky). So let's take ya back to where the fun started... I brought...
