Teething vs gas?

Whew it's been a while!  Sorry guys, super unmotivated week going on haha!  We even ordered pizza 2 days ago because we have no energy.

Maverick has been a little fussier lately and at first I thought it was teething.  It started Sunday, he cried all night and I really struggled to sleep longer than 20 minutes with him.

So I thought "teething" and not "gas" because I hadn't eaten anything out of the usual; I haven't had to adapt my diet too much at all for breast feeding, actually.  I just try not to eat buckets of broccoli but that's about it... onions are like a daily thing for me and he's never had an issue... so anyway, he was super grouchy and he's been excessively drooling (like soaking through a bib in an hour sometimes), and he's been putting everything in his mouth and chewing on his hands/my finger and applying tons of pressure.  Also, Sunday night I noticed he was abnormally not hungry and kept refusing the boob.  All signs of teething.  Sometimes he'd grab at his face too, but no cheek redness which is a common symptom.  Plus I could see his little bottom canine tooth almost poking through his gums.  I know it's a little early for teething, and especially for canines, but I did google it and he wouldn't be the first 3 month old baby with an emerged canine tooth.

Anyway, so I said teething and Steven and I gave him some infant tylenol.  It helped calm him a little bit but not really.  So Monday continued to be a stormy day, and Tuesday he was back to his happy self.  Last night he was grouchy again and he was chewing on my finger, wouldn't eat, and screaming Hail Mary so we gave him some a little infant tylenol.  It seemed to help again, for about 40 minutes.  Thankfully it wasn't as bad as Sunday and we ended up getting some sleep.

Today he's pretty much back to normal.  He's been eating like usual and everything seems good.  Since a tooth hasn't completely emerged yet, I'm not sold he's teething anymore and now I'm thinking it might just be gas.  Whatever it is, hopefully it doesn't keep up or we'll be going to see our doctor.

And I just have to add:

When you're a mom, everything they do is adorable.  Even sneezing lol...

Let's talk about co-sleeping 💤💤

Today is a great day!  It's #friyay 🎉 but seriously who'm I kidding it's always the weekend for me 😂.  Stay-at-home Mommy style! So I have a truth I need to share with you all... I co-sleep!  I KNOW! 😶 Terrible, right?!  Co-sleeping gets a lot of negativity from the parenting world, mainly because doctors and nurses all warn of the increased chance of SIDs associated with it.  So that's typically enough to scare any cautious person away from it.  However, there are a lot of people who swear by its benefits, such as increasing the bond between baby and mommy, and giving parents a chance to get more sleep because those middle-of-the-night feeds get a heck of a lot easier. The reason I do it is when my son was a newborn he would only sleep for about 45 minutes in his bassinet before waking up crying.  But if I fell asleep with him on my chest and in my arms we could both sleep for 2-3, sometimes even 4 hours!  That's a lot of sleep for a new...

Taking care of Mama Bear!

So, it's been a while--my bad peeps!!!  Maverick has been growing sooo quickly and the weather is finally warming up here in Alberta (somewhat, we still have snow but meh that's just Canada eh!) So we've been heading outside for daily walks which has been aahh-mazing for my mental and physical health!  During my pregnancy I went for regular walks (just not on those days late in my 3rd trimester when my body & especially feet ached so badly that walking was pretty much unbearable), but it was kinda challenging to get back into the groove of things post-partum.  Now that lil Mav is four months old I really am starting to feel like myself again (or even better, if that's even possible!!) During my pregnancy I gained about 70 lbs  (whheeew! Lol!) But I did lose 30 right after birth.  I haven't stepped on the scale in a lil while, because it's results were rather discouraging lol, so I've just been feelin' myself and all my lovely motherhood curves...

Battling baby rashes

Newborns don't always have the picture-perfect skin we all dream about.  Babies get acne, heat rashes, eczema, diaper rash, the list goes on. As a new parent, every time I caught sight of a rash it kind of sent me into a panic, unintentionally of course.  I think it has to do with that new mama anxiety, y'know.  So let's talk about that first time (and only time... so far...) that Maverick had diaper rash.  He was 10 weeks old, and we had just used Pampers sensitive baby wipes because we ran out of our usual brand (Kirklands).  To this day I still like to blame the change in wipes as the cause, but I'm sure it was a variety of things.  Babies can get diaper rash, or nappy rash, from wearing a soiled diaper too long, from the chemicals in diapers (and wipes), and simply from not airing out their bums enough.   When Mavi had the rash I read every online source made available to me with no prevail.  This was one stubborn bout of nappy ra...
